"First
Flurry" Chickadee in Persimmon
The sky was glowering when
I heard a thump agains my studio window. A young chickadee had
flown into it and sat, stunned on my porch. When I picked him
up, fearing the worst, he sat quietly in my hand and panted,
staring at me. I set him down and soon he managed to fly to the
nearby persimmon branch. As the first snowflakes began to fall,
he seemed to hunch his shoulders and shake his aching head as
if to wonder 'what next?'. |
